July 2019

Bakehouse Theatre, Adelaide

Directed by Zoe Muller and Matilda Butler

Written by Christopher Sergel, based on the novel by S.E Hinton

Synopsis

The Outsiders is a gritty, emotional story about Ponyboy Curtis, a 14-year-old Greaser, caught in a violent rivalry between his tough, working-class crew and the wealthy Socs. When a fight spirals out of control, Ponyboy and his best friend Johnny are forced to run for their lives, discovering the harsh realities of friendship, loyalty, and class struggles. As tensions boil over, Ponyboy begins to realise that, despite the differences between them, everyone is fighting their own battles. It’s a raw, unforgettable look at growing up on opposite sides of the tracks.
